Subject: Re: Need a help about Germany
Well, let me give you my (short ) personal view.
One think that got kinda big was a facebook clone,
http://www.studivz.net/
It was originally aimed to be used by students, starting learning groups and such, but it soon became the biggest German social network ( with meinvz.net and schülerVZ.net )
You know, now that you asked - its really hard to think of something "usable". Everything I know is frozen deeply back in my mind, without me having access to it.
Here are some of my personal experiences that might be true local only. I live in Nordrhein-Westfalen
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordrhein-Westfalen
Fast Food. You can get pretty much everything you want, Dunkin Donuts, Mc Donald's, KFC, Burger King- its here. Even our small City has couple of Subways ( I dislike this place )
A funny fact about McDonald's though. Here in my region, Youngsters like to show off their cars at parking lots of McDonald's lol. You should see it yourself. Standing there with their tuned cars- I don't even know if they are buying food hehe. Its not happening at Burger King or KFC, so yeah.
You are pretty connected in Nordrhein-Westfalen between the cities. Here are a lot of big cities or cities that want to look big.Cologne, Duesseldorf, Dortmund, Essen, Aachen- you can go everywhere with easy. The borders here are close too. France, the Netherlands, Belgium- all nearby. Oh and the "Euro" is great if you want to go for a daytrip to the countries mentioned above, cause there's no need to exchange your money into another currency.
The big Airports are Airport Cologne and Duesseldorf, but sure some others aswell- but that are the ones that come into my mind right now ;D
About parties and concerts
It's the common deal, the bigger the city the bigger are the prizes for pretty much everything. For example, I can go party and get a drink for 3-4 Euros in my city. Duesseldorf can cost me the double for one drink, depending on how fancy the club/place is. You can have an entrance fee or a minimum value you have to spend in the club- sometimes you got both ;D
Flatrate Parties/Binge drinking/all you can drink parties are common and popular.
Another one on fastfood.
Turkish food is polurar ( doner and other stuff )
Greek food too- Gyros, Tzatziki and so on.
French Fries with the Currywurst are not only popular, they are loved
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currywurst
I don't know much about soccer- So yeah.. ;D
That's for now-
You could give me more specific question. I enjoy to write down stuff that's so common for me. And I can practicing my English.
( tell me if you have trouble with understanding anything, just ask me pls )
bye
