The sentry functionality is way more complex. There are differences between stationary turrets/normal movable units for example. Sentry fire is not random at all.
- For example, normal units won't fire at all, if there is a fixed defense that covers the area by it's range.
- Then, in most cases, for example if a couple of planes flies into a base in the same time, in every case the farthest fixed defense or stationary AA turret will shoot first. This is done, because we have fixed bullet numbers and a fixed range cloud for our sentry units. It won't be good, if the nearest turret would attack the nearest unit, as maybe that turret has a different unit in range that can be shot down only by that turret.
No random behavior. Only a very very complex algorithm that can react in tons of ways.
