Subject: Reaction Fire Hi, Since 0.2.8 you should be able to enable reaction fire, how exactly do you do that? Can't seem to find how to do it. Thanks. |

Subject: Re: Reaction Fire Sentry mode is not the same as reaction fire. The reaction fire is enabled by default. It can be switched off by selecton 'manual'. |

Subject: Re: Reaction Fire So it just means units fire back automatically (if able) after being shot at, by default? OK, back to extremely abusing the "s" button on my keyboard again then ![]() |

Subject: Re: Reaction Fire No. It fires when an opponent unit, that could fire at itself, comes into range. Means: If a enemy unit is a threat to your own unit it will be fired at if possible. Otherwhise it will be ignored. A good example is a corvette. It won't attack "harmless" detected APCs but fire on a submarine automatically if the submarine could harm the corvette after finishing it's move. |

Subject: Re: Reaction Fire no! I was wrong. It is "manuell" of course. __________ But, sentry is out automatically after one moves the unit, right? @Beko.

Subject: Re: Reaction Fire Sentry is like often to read here and in tickets a bit tricky. First of all, you have to note, testing this in the original with HotSeat and you have other results as testing in multiplayer (vs. AI or IPX…) Fact is, while I made some test for ticket #613 I was surprised not to have the manual option, and it looks like there are less important of sentry mode or not… (use the saves that shared in the ticket…) Other fact I researched for another discussion page here, MAX2 give you an easy way to setup your units as you can see on this image. Furthermore I just can say, there are difference in MAXR, if an unit is on sentry or not. For example, while you have a bomber in range of an enemy sub on sentry, the bomber attacks, if you not set the sentry mode, the bomber won't attack while the sub attack on of your units. In conclusion to this facts, my recommendation is use the 'feature' of max2 — it's easy to understand and could work great. If you are in need of additionally options from the attack menu of max2, feel free to write it here, and I'll add another image… Quote by fyzzo: hehe in maxr it could happen, that to many units attack the same enemy or that all unit of you attack another enemy, both isn't nice… or an ML attack an infiltrator and a GT attack the tank… (random select?)
Additional note by the author: there was another try to research something about the sentry mode… It would be nice to merge all the stuff with sentry and reaction fire into ONE topic… I would do this, but if I do this, you have to wait two weeks for this… so sorry, busy |

Subject: Re: Reaction Fire Thanks for clarifying ![]() So, Reaction fire is enabled if a unit is not in sentry mode and not in manual mode and not moving, right? Makes me wonder, in a situation where you got yourself an ally and you would go to some place together with a bunch of units, before if you just didn't set the units on sentry nothing would happen, now with reaction fire both players should set all units on manual otherwise they would start shooting each other, or? |
