The point is not the selling but the removal of the authors file. It's presented as "own" software which it is in fact not. It's not shipped with the GPL and only selected data is provided from an own download mirror. The modified source is not provided as it should. It's not even mentioned that one should be able to request the source. One can not clearly see the real origin of the software and that's blunt shameless. It also brings in a damn lot of confusion for people that know maxr since an own version scheme is used on the Android version but the name, logo and even the description are simply copied from here. This is no way to 'fork' a project. It's fraud. I guess the only reason that one can still click on the Manifest button in the main menu is lack of knowledge how to remove that. Guy did the same to at least one other project "simutrans". That app was removed so I guess he did something similar here and the simutrans guys managed to remove it from the store. Sadly I have no damn time to dig into this further at the moment. |

Subject: Re: Android Version!? I didn't write they respect the GPL. Just that with GPL, we can still sell the application... I remember a site which sold firefox (legally!). Not sure how GPL (doesn't) works with the app stores, since normal users cannot recompile... |
