Hey, welcome onboard!

Looks like its hitting some memory limits and crashes, probably but not exclusive its the Dos4gw.exe itself. Luckily you can change that =)

You should find more Info here

http://www.maxr.org/showtopic.php?id=722

You can't just replace the Dos4gw.exe with a new one, cause its combined with the Maxrun.exe. But with the Info provided you can unbind it and rebind it to a new Extender =)

Good luck!

Hi Darkmatter,

I am not sure if the replace of the dos-extender is the way to solve your problem.
IIRC the dos-extender change is 'only' for the long-played games a fix and it seems that you haven't played that long right now. So I think there is maybe another problem…
E.g. I found some bugs around infiltrator usage in the original game - and there is no way to fix it :/ (as you can read in the ticket #769 - comment 1).

The only good hint I can give you atm is the How-to use M.A.X. with modern OS - maybe any settings is different… *shrugs*

Jup - this is still in the "Developers' Corner"… some of us are busy ⇒ you got a PM Wink — but I am still not sure if this would fix your problem No comment

Hope you can see it now Darkmatter.

You could also try to change the output= to something else, like openGl..

helped me a bit.

Though I started a game in DoBbox and it begun to crash so many times( it was lagging too with a 4 core cpu) so I got an 2 ghz pc to work with win 95, and it was a great experience. Though, not all crashes can be fixed.
I wish you good luck- Would be nice to know if it helped, bb

thx - that link i can open.

but this link doesnt explain what was mentioned about unbinding the dos4gw exe. google is inconclusive about this - all i find is some garbled text thats beyond my level of understanding. some guide about setting up the dosbox is pojntless - i had an expert set up my dosbox - that guy can run win98se in a dosbox - so setting up a little box for my use he can be trusted with i think. ^^
but however - fixing my max installation is something i have to get somehow done without his help.

if anyone can point to a guide that explains the "how to" on unbinding the dos4gw part i´d be grateful.

anyway - your project is a brave one - reworking the game to the point you´ve gotten it to takes guts and persistance. keep it up!
