Subject: max file formats
Do you guys have documents on the ".RES", ".WRL", ".FON", and ".DMO" M.A.X. file formats?

Thanks in advance.

I am not a deveploper nor I have any skillz with sources, but as far as I know, all formats should be known...maaybe not DMO, but Fon is the same like from fallout ( afaik! ) and other interplay games...

good luck man

Yeah, just nobody seems to have a description of the formats. I did find a .fon editor and display program, but nothing on WRL and nothing specific on RES, much less DMO (I take it it's the intro demo data file)...

yeah you are probably right with the DMO files ( demo my guess hahaha )
There could be a hidden game recorder in the original M.A.X. Grinning

Too see that feature in MAX R would be nice ;D

To be honest, I've been having difficulty understanding the MAXR code and was pondering making my own... but it doesn't seem conceptually difficult to create a game recorder.

sorry, all written down documentation about the file formats is the source code.

a game recorder should be easy to implement. The recorder have to save all net messages, incoming on the server and add a time stamp to each message.

Argh! Surprised

No written docs at all? Disappointed

Does anyone know how to get in touch with any member of the original MAX development team?

We had some contact with Gus Smedstad, but he wasnt a big help...and that was at least 1-2 years ago.

So well, even if you could find someone from the MAX Dev Team, dont expect too much ( like I did )

Smedstad is somewhat easy to find... I also attempted David Boulanger (at least, I hope it's the same guy); we'll see if he writes back.

Ali Atabek is unlisted, but apparently lives in Torrance, CA...
