Subject: Problems starting multiplayer game
Hi,

first I want to thank the development team for their great work recreating this great game.

I built SVN revision 1593 (currently the latest) running under Linux and KDE. I can start a server, connect with clients and use the in-game chat, but I have problems actually starting the game: I get the following error message in the chat/log window:

<local player name> missing translation: Text Multiplayer Not_Ready

The data loading entries in the file maxr.log typically look like this:
==============================(MARK)==============
================
(WW): Couldn't open buildings/mine_deep/effect.pcx
(WW): Couldn't open sounds/dummy.wav
(WW): Couldn't open sounds/dummy.wav
(WW): Couldn't open sounds/dummy.wav
(WW): Couldn't open sounds/dummy.wav
(DD): ID 01 24 verified
(WW): Can't read Muzzle_Type-Node in buildings/pad/data.xml
(WW): Can't read Can_Rearm-Node in buildings/pad/data.xml
(DD): Unitdata read

But single player seems to work (apart from some "missing translation" errors).

Thanks in advance for your help!

ew.. lemme guess.. you used resinstaller and the max version from abadon games, right? We noticed some days ago that some files we need are missing in that version.

Is it just the deep mine? If so copy the files from the usual mine (without data.xml!). This building is classified as alien building and currently not in use anyway.

The translation error is a bug if you are up to date with your language files.

Thanks for the fast answer - the missing file which caused the problem is player_ready.pcx. Without it I didn't see that I have to click there to declare the player ready. It seems like it works otherwise.

I just realized my stupidity: I used the packet that I downloaded many months ago, version 0.15, and used the executable compiled from updated SVN sources. Sorry for the noise!

np, you're welcome Smiling

..and it wouldn't be the first time that an important file is missing in the release Shy
