Subject: Turn Based Not Working?
Hi everyone,

When I try to play turn based mode the client's turn gets skipped about 50% of the time. Is this a known bug?

I'm hosting 0.2.7 on Win7x64 and the client is Vista. I tried reversing host and client machines and got the same result.

I would really like to play turn based because I find it more strategic during battles.

Damn. So much for turn based strategy Tongue

Is it not working because of some mysterious bug that no one can find in the code or have developers just focused their efforts on simultaneous mode so far? Seems to me that turn based mode would be the simpler of the two to implement.

The latter. I know of nobody who does not use the simultaneous mode so it was simply not tested in a long time. Thing is that people here play a lot of matches with 4 or 5 players and nobody wants to wait on 4 other players all the time so simultaneous mode suits maxr best.

MAX games need a lot of time and devs can hardly spare time to code so it's basically up to the community to find and report such bugs before stuff is released.

You may give the nightly build a try and report back on this.

Okay. If I'm going to try the nightly builds I need to compile the source with VC++ right?

No. You can make use of Eikos very recent SVN package. It's located at the SVN nightly builds page as well.

You can of course set up maxr on VC++ as well and compile yourself. I'm not familiar with this but I know that it's possible.

There are some pre-complied builds

http://www.maxr.org/docs.php?id=41

If you're using windows I would suggest the build by eiko =)

http://www.maxr.org/...2-eiko.zip
Its always the latest build from him with the same link

Okay I had a chance to try the latest development version and it has the same issue.

From what I can tell the problem occurs when the client has units with pending moves. When the host ends his turn the client's turn is briefly activated then goes straight into 'executing remaining movement' phase then the turn is immediately handed back to the host.
