Subject: How-to run M.A.X more than 150 turns
original author nonsinn !
First of all, i know there are some information here and somewhere else on the internet, but everywhere just 'a part of a greater whole'. So I just wanna gave you a (little and short) HOW-TO-summary here and hope you save the hours I needed to get all information …and btw I saw this possibility while I looked around in the developers area
)
I used some
variables and hope, that some day in future for every expander a solution would be available
.
- PMWBIND.EXE (you'll find this nice executable in the pmw133.zip from the PMODE/W-Page and some information on wikipedia PMODE
- any DOS-EXTENDER
- okay, I'll use the
- <new-DOS-Extender>
- so you should have a <file-name>.
- a (dfend-)DOSBOX… maybe you read the How-to use M.A.X. with modern OS…. I'll describe the solution with dfend + dosbox + settings of the …modern OS-Topic… (and meanwhile a solution without dfend)
- extract the LE from MAXRUN.EXE {'LE' = line executable} (a file, you can run with DOS-Extender)
- get some other DOS-Extender (avoid some crashes with the original one…)
- running M.A.X. with the <new-DOS-Extender> (you should know why )
- copy PMWBIND.EXE and your <new-DOS-Extender> into your M.A.X.-directory. (We need it there to work with)
- you don't have to change your expander label!
- enjoy gaming ^^
- (start dfend),
- run the DOSBox DOS,
- cd (change directory) to your M.A.X.-dir,
- run pmwbind.exe /u maxrun.exe (image *the-work.png*)
there is a MAXRUN.BAT in your M.A.X.-dir, open it and replace the original stuff
Maxrun.exe -fD:\MAX\MAX
with
<new-MAXRUN.BAT>
Continue with *changed-dfend-settings.png*
Don't change the expander label so we maybe can help you if you need some help, and add a screeny like the *changed-dfend-settings.png* (below the line) to your *it won't work* reply
