Subject: Re: MAX 3D Tech Demo in Unity
To quote our member Mague about the source code (or any assets as it seems) from 2009
Quote:Also, I have been informed, that Mr. Taylor from Interplay again confirmed, that the source code is still lost:
"
... As far as I know, there is no change regarding the source code. When the company closed down the Irvine offices, there was very little done to preserve the source code or any assets. We went through many of the old machines a few months back, but very little of use was recovered. I personally believe that most of the old assets are lost.

I have to check out the UDK, especially UDK 4. 20$ seems to be a reasonable price for a month, though I hope they offer some kind of trial period (which I believe is unlikely, but would be nice)
The library from the Unity Store looks definitely nice, but 25$ oh well, have to think about it.
About sharing this, so far there are no plans, just because I haven't thought of that yet.
But to be honest, all this handcrafted models should not dust in my folders for too much longer. I have to think about those things. Any particular things you are interested in?
To really try to make a game like MAX definitely would require more 3d models. I am still missing many buildings, though that shouldn't take more then some weeks of modeling. Animations are rather easy usually in Unity. What I didn't grasp yet, was how to rotate wheels dynamically.
My shader skills in Unity are below basic sadly, have to work on that.
The initial idea of this Techdemo was to have something to show to companies, where I want to apply for an internship.
So yeah, lets see how that goes.
