Mira seems to be the most active in the french translation, so he would probably be the best person for this task.
However I volunteer as well. I can fill in for the technical side, since I use C++ and svn (on windows and linux) on a daily basis. I have good grammar and spelling in french too, so I should be able to double-check anything that people submit for the french translation.
As far as free time goes I'm usually available, but expect me to disappear for 3-4 weeks twice a year when final exams hit.
I suggest you wait a bit to see who else volunteers, and then just PM me if you end up picking me for this.
